Karalina Design began with a desire to create art specifically for home decor. Simone Kaminsky lives and works in Vancouver developing her textile and surface design brand, Karalina Design. She is influenced by West Coast beauty and motivated to create original art that helps others to decorate their home with a unique expression of what they love. The name Karalina is a nod to her great-grandmother and her Slavic roots which carry seamstress talent.
Her sense of style was shaped early in life and has been blended over time with a love of fashion and nature that allows her designs to be light and playful at times. Her background in photography and roles in both interior & architectural design firms ignited a love of contemporary style with clean design. Pursuing courses at Emily Carr University of Art & Design led to freelance print design as well as an Art Director role in a large-format textile printing company. In this arena she was transformed and inspired by the unlimited possibilities of designing for fabrics.
Driven by colour and influenced by current trends, her bold prints use many mediums such as pen & ink, watercolour, photography, and combinations of each with computer design elements to develop a distinct style. It all feeds her soul, allowing her to create art from within and bring beauty and unique design to your home.
