Cloud Decor Collection by Joanne Jaeger
Cloud Décor designer Joanne Jaeger describes Cloud’s ethereal throw cushions as the culmination of her love affair with fabric and her passion for drawing and painting.
These gorgeous hand painted pillows fulfill Cloud Décor’s belief that artistic expression can go far beyond a canvas on the wall – that a pillow: soft, sensual, evocative of home and comfort can be a key element in a home’s design statement, and be an ideal accessory for introducing colour, line and contrast to a room.
Cloud Décor’s one-of-a-kind pillows document the beauty and nurturing quality of nature and our unavoidable connection to it. They are a free-spirited celebration of the seasons, the wind and the sun.
Cloud Décor’s Pillows are beautifully constructed of 100% pre-washed high thread count cotton, with inserts of 100% duck down. The drawings are done first, transferred onto the cloth, then hand-painted, making each pillow a unique work of art. Each pillow is piped in a contrasting, colourfast cotton blend. Hand-selected vintage button closures on the reverse side allow for easy removal and washing of the pillow covers. The images are completely fade-proof using the highest quality fabric paint, and may be machine washed in cold water and dried on a medium heat setting.
About the Designer
Joanne Jaeger has fabric in her blood – grandmother Marie made couture garments on a treadle machine in post-war Germany to support her children, and growing up on the northern B.C. coast meant décor and clothing items were either Sears Catalogue, or homemade. Mom Elisabeth made gorgeous quilts, pillows and drapes for her daughters rooms, and outfits in the latest styles each season. Joanne embraced this textile legacy and her graduation from Vancouver Vocational Institute’s Textile Arts Program was followed by an exciting 7 years of fashion design under her own label, and a developing love and talent for sketching and painting. Now living on 5 acres on the Sunshine Coast, a 40 min. ferry ride from Vancouver and working out of her spacious sun-filled studio, Joanne is inspired by her vintage clothing and fabric collections, and the extensive gardens and trees on her property. |
